Weather Underground Forecast for Wednesday, March 17, 2010.

Wet weather will diminish over Asia on Wednesday as a strong low pressure system moves away from Japan and into the Sea of Okhotsk. This will pull scattered showers with it and bring wet weather to the Kuril Islands. A cold front extending southward from this system will move southeastward and away from Japan. However, flow around this system will continue pulling moisture off of the Sea of Japan, which will kick up scattered showers over northern Japan and along the northwestern coasts. Tokyo will see a few lingering clouds with highs in the lower 50s/ lower teens(C).

Behind this system, a small trough at higher levels in the atmosphere will move over the Yellow Sea and into the Korean Peninsula. This system will have obtained ample moisture before spreading precipitation over the Koreas. Due to cool temperatures, most areas will see snow. Thus, Seoul will be overcast with a chance of flurries, as highs remain in the mid-30s(F)/ 1(C).

Meanwhile in China, a high pressure system hover in over Mongolia will create a strong ridge that will stretch over most of China. This will allow for pleasant weather over most of the country, however, in the south, onshore flow from the South China Sea will kick up a few scattered showers and thunderstorms over the southern coast. Expect Hong Kong to see light rain with highs near 70(F)/ 21(C). Shanghai will return to the lower 60s(F)/ mid-teens(C), while Beijing will see highs near 40(F)/ 4(C), both under mostly sunny skies.

In Australia, mild weather is anticipated on Wednesday as high pressure moves in to the Great Australian Bight. This will allow for warm and dry weather over most of the country. Sydney will see plenty of sunshine with highs near 80(F)/ 26(C).
