Weather Summary

Weather Underground Forecast for Wednesday, May 14, 2008.

The low pressure system off the Iberian Peninsula will remain nearly stationary over the next few days, keeping scattered precipitation going across northern Iberian Peninsula and France Wednesday. Southern British Isles can expect light rain developing Wednesday night, continuing through Thursday as the low pressure system shifts slightly northward.

Farther east, a weak system in the eastern Mediterranean Sea will remain somewhat stationary and weaken throughout the day. Thus, expect scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to continue early in the day, slowly tapering off at night.

In northern Europe, a large area of low pressure will remain across northern Europe Wednesday, with a new system rapidly dropping southeast through southern Scandinavia. As a result, unsettled weather will continue across the region Wednesday. A stronger system will arrive Thursday and Friday, bringing heavier precipitation.

A sunny and mild day is in store for the central Europe as well as the British Isles Wednesday, thanks to the high pressure holding in place.

That summer, the world's deadliest natural disaster of all time--the Yellow River Flood of 1931--killed b...
